Gather round, Fargo fans: we bring you mouthwatering news about the fourth season's cast.

According to Variety, Noah Hawley's crime caper has nabbed the talents of James Bond actor Ben Whishaw, Wes Anderson favourite Jason Schwartzman, Boardwalk Empire's Jack Huston and Chernobyl star Jessie Buckley.

Schwartzman is onboard to portray a character named Josto Fadda, Whishaw's in as Rabbi Milligan (related to season two's Mike Milligan, we think not), while Huston is set to bring Odis Weff to life. Buckley is playing Oraetta Mayflower.

Comedian and actor Chris Rock was confirmed to star in the upcoming season almost a full year ago, so Fargo's route back to the small screen hasn't been blessed with the quickest of progress.

Then again, the show's creator has been working on other projects too, mainly his feature-film directorial debut Lucy in the Sky – set for release later this year.

For those eager to get back to the off-kilter criminal landscape of Fargo, season four's synopsis teases: "In Kansas City, Missouri, two criminal syndicates have struck an uneasy peace. One Italian, one African American. Together they control an alternate economy — that of exploitation, graft and drugs.

"To cement their peace, the heads of both families have traded their eldest sons. Chris Rock plays the head of one family, a man who — in order to prosper — has surrendered his oldest boy to his enemy, and who must in turn raise his son's enemy as his own.

"It's an uneasy peace, but profitable. And then the head of the Kansas City mafia goes into the hospital for routine surgery and dies. And everything changes."

Fargo airs on FX in the US and Channel 4 in the UK.
