Farm Structures Destroyed by Tornado in Southern Saskatchewan

A tornado devastated buildings on a grain farm in the southern Saskatchewan village of Hodgeville on August 23.

This footage by Scot Muri shows timber and sheet iron strewn across the farmyard. Farming equipment can be seen partially buried beneath the rubble.

The farm’s owner, Eugene Zakaluzny, told CBC, “It happened so fast. I saw the fuel tanks going, I saw the half-ton going. By the time I looked out, the whole yard was cleaned.”

Locals set up a GoFundMe to help the family.

On August 24, Environment Canada confirmed the tornado and said its rating was still being evaluated. Credit: Scot Muri via Storyful
