Farmers protest meat-less menus in French schools

Farmers in Lyon use tractors and banners at a demonstration to rally against news that dinner menus devoid of meat are being proposed by schools in French areas whose councillors were voted in on an ecological ticket. It is the case in Lyon, where the mayor, Grégory Doucet, is from the ecological EELV party. He defends the move by saying: "This is not an operation to promote vegetarianism or veganism since we will offer animal proteins to children every day", like fish and eggs.
