Morbidly obese cat's feeble attempt to exercise wins her thousands of fans
By Charlie Duffield
Amorbidly obese grey cat has become an internet sensation after a video of her pathetic attempts to exercise went viral.
Cinderblock needs to lose weight in order to live longer, so was taken to a vet in Washington and coaxed into using an underwater treadmill - with the water meant to ease her joints.
In an Instagram caption, her vet wrote: “This fabulous feline is obese, and it is affecting her quality of life. We are helping her achieve weight loss through a prescription diet and exercise. She is not on board with the exercise 😂.”
The hilarious video shows the cat reluctantly using just one paw on the treadmill as she sits in the corner, whilst suffering the embarrassment of wearing a bright blue harness.

And we can relate. Summoning up the motivation to exercise is hard, and even more so now the clocks have turned and the cold, dark and wet weather awaits.
Unknown to Cinderblock however, she’s generated a mass of support from those eager to see her progress on her weight-loss journey. At the time of writing, the original video has been viewed more than 5 million times.
One artist has even illustrated the chubby cat in various moods and poses.

Luckily, Northshore Veterinary Hospital have persisted with her strict exercise regime and she seems to be making progress.
Another video showed the 25-pound Russian Blue feline managing to walk a bit on the treadmill.
One viewer commented “This weirdly is actually inspiring me to get out of a low spot in my life right now.”
And the fat cat is receiving plenty of encouragement, with a video of her trying to catch a toy being shared by the vet on Instagram.
The caption read: “Cinder in action. She may not be running around but she is moving a couple of feet in the right direction.”
But it’s still an uphill struggle.
A photo revealed Cinderblock with her paw on the table during a weight check, allegedly trying to deceive hospital staff.
To be honest, we just love her even more.
