The first full trailer for Fatal Attraction, the new series starring Lizzy Caplan and Joshua Jackson, has been released.

The Paramount+ series is a reimagining of the 1987 film of the same name, which starred Michael Douglas and an Oscar-nominated Glenn Close.

The story follows Daniel (Jackson), who is released from prison after serving 15 years for the murder of Alex (Caplan) – a crime he denies he committed. The pair had previously embarked on an affair, but things turned ugly after Alex threatened to destroy the life he built with his wife, Beth (Amanda Peet).

The tense trailer shows the initial meeting between Dan and Alex, with their subsequent affair leading to a volatile game of cat-and-mouse as the latter begins invading the former’s personal life.

In addition to Caplan, Jackson and Peet, the eight-part series will also star Toby Huss, Reno Wilson, Alyssa Jirrels and Brian Goodman, with the latter playing Beth’s best friend and business partner.

The series, which has been written by Alexandra Cunningham, is billed as a “deep dive reimagining of the 1980s cultural touchstone through the lens of privilege, personality disorders, family dynamics and murder.”

The first three episodes will premiere in the US and Canada on April 30, with the UK airing following a day later. Episodes will then drop on each Sunday and Monday for each respective region, with the final two parts being released on May 29.

Upon the announcement of the project and the previous casting news, Nicole Clemens, the president of original scripted series at Paramount+, said: “Alexandra brings an incredibly strong and nuanced point of view to a story that became a cultural phenomenon but has thus far only been told from the male gaze.

“Partnered with [executive producer] Kevin [J Hynes], they will bring the next explosive chapter of this story to a new generation with a balanced eye to the complexities of the human psyche,” she added.

Fatal Attraction will premiere on Paramount+ on April 30 in the US and Canada, and on May 1 in the UK.
