A father has hilariously live tweeted his experience taking a group of school children to the Science Museum.

Simon Smith volunteered to help take the group of 60 Year 5 pupils, including his daughter, on the trip, and has spent the day sharing his experience online.

The man from Harlow wrote in a note to his followers: “Teachers and teaching assistants: You have my utmost respect.”

Mr Smith began his live tweeting this morning, having promised his followers that he would be filling them in on all the action from the trip.;

He wrote: "I’ve got a treat for you tomorrow. I’m live tweeting adulting on a School Trip to the Science Museum. Coach Trip. 60 Year 5’s. SCENES."

The amusing account began with the journey to the museum itself, which appeared to be eventful.

As the bus made its way to the museum, Mr Smith told his followers: "The only food left on the bus belongs to the adults."

He also shared humorous conversations between the children.

And then in classic school trip fashion, one of the students was sick.

Mr Smith went on to document the trip around the museum and of course a visit to the gift shop.

He admitted he was responsible for seven students in the gift shop who all bought "slime and putty".

In one humorous moment, the father is asked by the children to explain where an apparent smell of marijuana is coming from.

He said: "I've told them it's from the Butterfly exhibition at the Natural History Museum."

At 4pm, Mr Smith was still tweeting the journey home on his account and said that he expected the trip back to take at least another hour.

He added that none of the children so far had fallen asleep.

Mr Smith's account of the trip has proved a hit online with many people sympathising with him.

Abigail Amey wrote: "Does anyone volunteer twice to help on a school trip?"

While Andy Gardiner commented: "This thread is hilarious. And well worth five minutes of your time. Especially if you have volunteered to help on a school trip. Even more so if you are considering it."
