Fatman Scoop dies aged 53 after collapsing on stage months before planned Newcastle gig
US rapper Fatman Scoop has died aged 53 after collapsing on stage.
The American musician, best known for his 2003 number one single Be Faithful, was the headline act at the Green & Gold Party in Hamden, Connecticut, USA. Videos on social media showed the rapper performing some of his biggest hits just hours before suffering a "medical emergency", Mirror reports.
He collapsed on stage and passed out, with onlookers rushing to perform emergency CPR on him. He was rushed to hospital but despite the best efforts of medics, he was pronounced dead on Friday, August 30.

The cause of his death is currently unknown. The musician, whose real name was Isaac Freeman III was due to play Kubix on Tour at Newcastle's Utilita Arena on Saturday, December 14, alongside The Vengaboys, Ultrabeat, East 17, and others.
The rapper had also previously been a special guest at a Bongo's Bingo event in Newcastle in 2018.
Over the course of his career, Fatman Scoop worked with the likes of Missy Elliott, Timberland, Nick Cannonn, Skrillex and Mariah Carey. Away from music, he had a successful TV career, having appeared in Channel 4 series Chancers in 2004, which showed six British singers attempting to break into the music industry.
He was also known to UK audiences after appearing on Channel 5’s Celebrity Big Brother: UK vs USA in 2015, and was the third housemate to be evicted.
