Fatman Scoop's cause of death confirmed after rapper collapsed on stage
Rapper Fatman Scoop's cause of death has been revealed after he passed away suddenly after collapsing on stage during a performance. The 56-year-old rapper, whose real name was Isaac Freeman, died last month.
The Connecticut Chief Medical Examiner's Office has now disclosed that his death was due to hypertensive and atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease. This condition is the result of prolonged untreated high blood pressure and involves arteries hardening because of built-up fat.
Details emerged of Fatman Scoop experiencing a fall on August 30 amid a summer concert set. Footage captured the scene as he energetically hyped the audience shirtless before heading towards the DJ booth where he collapsed.

Despite the immediate response from medical teams who attempted CPR, their efforts were in vain and Fatman Scoop couldn't be resuscitated. Remembered fondly as an inspirational figure in music, the Harlem-born "Be Faithful" hitmaker was hailed as "the undisputed voice of the club", famously known for prompting "Single ladies, make noise! ".
His tour manager Birch Michael - also known as Pure Cold - posted a tribute to the hip-hop star on Instagram. He said: "It is with the heaviest of hearts I announce the passing of Isaac Freeman III, known professionally as Fatman Scoop.
"You taught me how to be the man I am today. I love you Scoop, Thank you so much for everything you gave to me." In the caption of the post on Instagram, Pure Cold continued his tribute to Fatman Scoop.
Fatman Scoop was performing as the headline act at the Green and Gold Party in Hamden, Connecticut. The 'Be Faithful' hitmaker was scheduled to perform in September at the UK's Reminisce Festival.
