Our favourite new viral star tells us how he does it!

Johannesburg – He is fresh out of high school and already has a budding career in the entertainment industry. YouTube personality, TV presenter, radio host and now even a businessman – Lasizwe Dambuza does it all.

The 19-year-old first shot to fame with his hilarious YouTube skits. “While I was still in school I used to do parodies. My one parody that blew up was Let’s Drink Oros,” he says about the first successful video he made.

And even though he is a hot commodity now, it was the constant rejection at auditions that propelled him into the YouTube sphere. “That’s why I took matters into my own hands and decided to make the videos,” he explains, saying that he was turned down for many roles because he appeared to be younger than he actually was.

Having created dozens of videos, there’s one that stands out above the rest. Lasizwe’s take on Bonang Matheba’s reality show Being Bonang proved very popular with fans, garnering over 200 000 views on YouTube and over 500 000 views on Facebook.

“I ran through Twitter, and Twitter just said Being Bonang is about her work. We’ve never seen Bonang sit down [and] have a cup of coffee with her brother, her family, [or] her and Kiernan arguing, we’ve never seen that. So give the people what they want.” And the social media star says he did just that. “They wanted to see the drama between the whole cheating allegation. They wanted to see DJ Zinhle pop by,” he says, adding: “If you’re going to have a reality show in South Africa you need to be as real as possible.”

Aside from his radio and TV gigs, Lasizwe has now added businessman to his CV too, registering his own company called “Lasizwe Entertainment”.

“Lasizwe Entertainment is more like a production house/media house. I want to start renting out equipment and have my own productions,” he explains.
