Steps band member Faye Tozer, 42, said while she’s ‘thrilled’ to join this year’s Strictly Come Dancing she’d like to see a major shake-up in the way the Strictly judging works.
Tozer revealed at a recent Strictly press event that she doesn’t know how ‘useful’ it is for the judges to give criticism after each contestant’s performance as opposed to during the rehearsal stage.
“The judges give you their criticism on the dance that you do that night but then you move on to a completely different style the next week.
“I don’t know how useful it is. This might sound a bit controversial but if we could get some criticism before we actually do it, I’d like that! And top tips before we do the dance – not after,” she explained.
She was also quick to brush off criticism that she shouldn’t be on Strictly because of her dancing background with pop band Steps.
“I’m from Steps so of course it was going to come up! Essentially it is an audience show and it is the audience that will decide. If you can dance or if you can’t, they decide who they want to see on the telly and they will fall in love with who they fall in love with,” she said.
However, she did say she might try and sneak a cheeky signature Steps move or two into her performances:
“I might try to sneak in a couple of them!” she confessed.
