It would be reasonable to think that Fear the Walking Dead's upcoming crossover with The Walking Dead was inevitable – but it turns out not even the cast saw it coming.
Until they read about it on Twitter, that is.
Proving that TV stars are (sometimes) just like regular human beings, Fear the Walking Dead's Alycia Debnam-Carey told Digital Spy on a recent set visit that Lennie James' season four arrival was "such a surprise".
"For us, when we found this out, it was such a surprise because we'd always been told, 'No this is never a possibility'," Alycia explained.
"In every interview, every panel, it was always the same question, 'Is there going to be a crossover?', [and] I remember everyone getting a like prickly by the end of it and we'd be like, 'No! It's just not going to happen!'"
Alycia, who plays Alicia Clark in the series, then revealed exactly how she found out that The Walking Dead's Morgan would be joining their show: "But then Robert Kirkman just put it out on Twitter."
"I had just woken up and someone had told me to look on Twitter and so I did and I was like, 'What?'"
Fortunately, the actress took the news surprisingly well considering its delivery.
"As a fan of all of this too, I thought it was great," she told us. "It's so fun and it's exciting."
In a somewhat surprising turn of events, Lennie James told us that he also had no idea about the zombie drama's crossover.
"I didn't even know about [it] until fans started turning up in front of me and saying, 'So, they're doing this crossover thing?'" he revealed.
"I didn't know what they were talking about... I could, at that stage, in all honesty, say that I had no idea what they were talking about."
And that's not the only Fear the Walking Dead secret we were let in on – Alycia also offered yet more hints that the series' fourth season will include those long-rumoured time jumps.
Well, how else are they going to explain Morgan's jump between the two shows?
Fear the Walking Dead returns to AMC in the US on Sunday, April 15 at 10/9c. The new season begins Monday, April 23 at 9pm on AMC on BT TV in the UK.
