Fear the Walking Dead star hints at time jumps in s4

Fear the Walking Dead's Alycia Debnam-Carey has offered yet more hints that the fourth season will include time jumps.

There has been speculation that the timeline for upcoming episodes will catch up with parent series The Walking Dead, thus explaining how Lennie James can make the jump between the two shows as Morgan Jones.

Alycia Debnam-Carey told Digital Spy during a recent set visit in Austin, Texas that there will definitely shifting timelines in upcoming episodes, giving her a chance to explore different sides of her character Alicia.

"I can't go into too much but there is an exciting element of this season, in particular in the first half, where we play a lot with time so you get to see Alicia in very different points of who she is as a character and then in time and they're very, very different, they're filmed very differently, they look very different and they're filmed really differently and they look different," she explained.

"That's really exciting. It's something I've never seen attempted in any of the Walking Dead universes but even really on any other TV show at the moment. There are also a lot of dramatic changes happening for her, she's growing and learning. I think we've seen her become somewhat of an apocalyptic badass, she's able to handle herself pretty well now but these steps it up to a whole other level."

Alycia would go into specific detail about the changes that viewers will see in Alicia, but did tip a creative shift that she says she's been pushing for.

"Ever since beginning this show I have always had the role of a young teenage girl," she said. "I believe you can do a lot with that if you put it out there, say what you want, ask for things, ask for different material, be invested and be an active member of this show. I was quite active in asking what I wanted and what I like as they listened and they're receptive to it.

"My favourite thing about the time jump on the show is that you have a specific change that can happen for your character. One of the hardest things about this show is that it moves slowly and in such minute terms, it's always about the detail. With the time jump it's fun because you can have a specific change, whether that comes from the writers or from a character's perspective you have the license to do it, even if you was just to cut off your hair."

Fear the Walking Dead returns to AMC in the US on Sunday, April 15 at 10/9c. The new season begins Monday, April 23 at 9pm on AMC on BT TV in the UK.
