Fears are growing for two missing teenage girls who were last seen on a field as police urged them to get in touch with their families.

Cleveland Police said Ruby Cuskern, 14, and Megan Hardwick, 15, from Stockton, were last sighted about 6.15pm on Sunday.

Locals formed their own search parties after the girls failed to return home or make contact with their families.

Police released an image of the pair as they walked through a field in Eastbourne. Officers previously said the girls may have travelled by bus to Middlesbrough.

A Cleveland Police spokesman said: “Officers trying to locate two missing Stockton teenagers have reassured them they’re not in any trouble and urged them to make contact so police can establish they’re both safe and well.

“If Ruby and Megan see this message, please call Cleveland Police on 101 as soon as possible - to let us know you’re safe and well. Your family and friends as well as police are so worried about you and we need to know you’re both ok.”

Ruby has been described as white with fake tan, 5ft tall with long brown hair and wears brown framed glasses. She was last seen wearing a cream body warmer with black leather trousers.

Megan is also white and 5ft4 tall with long, straight, dark brown hair. The teenager was last seen wearing a dark blue and cream striped jumper, black leather-look trousers and knee-high boots.

Police have also asked for parents and carers of young people who know Ruby and Megan to ask if they know where they are or if they’ve seen them.

Anyone with information is urged to call Cleveland Police as soon as possible on 101.
