What Federico Chiesa did on Liverpool bench when Ibrahima Konate scored at Wolves
Liverpool fans are yet to see Federico Chiesa score his first Reds goal but they have been given an insight into how he might celebrate. The Italian is still waiting for his first Premier League start, having been named on the bench again at Wolves.
Chiesa had played in three matches, having started the midweek League Cup win over West Ham. He marked his maiden Anfield line-up inclusion with an assist but was made to wait for further minutes on Saturday.
Although, that is not to say he didn’t feel involved in the action. Liverpool were not at their fluid best in the first 45 minutes but managed to go into half-time 1-0 up thanks to Ibrahima Konate’s header.

The centre-back would later be jointly at fault for Wolves’ equaliser, but was a picture of delight as he scored his second goal of the season and his first ever in the Premier League. Equally as jubilant was Chiesa.
The 26-year-old was seen celebrating just as passionately from the bench alongside his new teammates, as noted by reporters. Chiesa has been brought in as a rotation player for Mohamed Salah, having had a turbulent few years.
The Euro 2020 winner suffered a cruciate ligament injury six months after lifting the trophy for Italy and has had to battle several subsequent injuries in the time since, albeit did play 37 matches for Juventus last season.
However, he was exiled from the first-team squad by new boss Thiago Motta this summer and did not play a single minute - for club or country - until his Liverpool debut against AC Milan 11 days ago.
Chiesa had barely played 80 minutes as Arne Slot eases him back into match action. The head coach said after the trip to Milan that he expected players who had been offered little game time to get more minutes going forward, including Chiesa.
