Federico Chiesa could be set for his full Liverpool debut against Bournemouth in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon. The Italy international enjoyed a brief cameo in the Champions League win over AC Milan on Tuesday night.

He later took to Instagram to upload pictures from the fixtyre to his Instagram, racking up thousands of likes. Captioning the post, he wrote: "Happy to make my debut with @liverpoolfc! Great win in San Siro! [three arm flexing emojis]."

After being left out of the matchday squad in the last two Premier League fixtures, the winger could now be named in Arne Slot's starting XI. It will be his first involvement and taste of Anfield in a Premier League fixture following his summer move.

Slot hinted at giving more game time to players who haven't had minutes so far this season. "We will see more of the players that haven’t played a lot today or in other games in the future soon," he said. "But [Chiesa] gets fitter and fitter. He had a difficult pre-season because he was not always able to train with the first team of Juve, so he had to train a lot on his own.

"Then it takes a bit of time to get your match fitness. It’s getting better and better. He needs playing minutes now, but he has competition from some good wingers as well, so let’s see when we’re going to use him. But he’s going to be a big asset for us, a very good player us, that’s clear. That’s what we knew before we signed him and it’s also what we see on the training ground now.”

Chiesa's full debut could be rather special for him and his family. His father Enrico, previously scored for Italy at Anfield at the Euro 1996 before they went on to lose 2-1 against Czech Republic.

"I didn’t know it was Anfield," Chiesa admitted. "We have a picture of him celebrating after he scored that goal, but honestly I didn’t know it was at Anfield so this is a great memory for my family and for my father. So, I think my father is happy for me to join Liverpool."

A goal for the new Liverpool signing would provide a special moment for Chiesa, and would see him follow in his father's footsteps.
