It's taken almost a month, but Federico Chiesa finally got to make his Premier League and Anfield debut for Liverpool. The Italy international got his ovation from the Merseyside faithful just three days after making his competitive debut against AC Milan in the Champions League.

Chiesa was named on the bench by Arne Slot for the Premier League clash against Bournemouth on Saturday. The 26-year-old was introduced in the 72nd minute as he replaced Darwin Nunez who was on the score sheet in the 3-0 win.

It marked the second appearance for the £12.5 million signing from Juventus, and his first taste of Premier League football since being confirmed as a Liverpool player 23 days previously. Based on what Slot and the Anfield crowd saw from Chiesa's cameo, it's clear what the winger will bring to the squad in the weeks and months, and hopefully years, to come.

Mere seconds after being introduced to the contest, Chiesa attempted to get his first goal for the club right away. Unfortunately, the 30-yard effort was a routine save for Bournemouth goalkeeper Kep Arrizabalaga. Even so, it still signalled the intent that Chiesa is bringing to his role in the squad.

Five minutes later and Chiesa got close again to opening his account for Liverpool. The forward struck the post with a fine effort, only to be ruled out for offside anyway. Yet again, though, it showed that Chiesa is a danger in front of goal straight away.

Chiesa would not be able to score his first goal for Liverpool on his Premier League debut, and his cameo will likely go under the radar thanks to the performances of Diaz and Nunez, among others. More minutes will follow for the Italy international, which could include a potential first start on Wednesday night in the Carabao Cup third-round tie against West Ham.

Liverpool have a busy schedule in the Premier League, Champions League and other competitions this season. Slot will need his full squad throughout the campaign if the club are to achieve success this term, and Chiesa will be a major part of that.

Thanks to the cameo from Chiesa against Bournemouth, Liverpool fans and Slot now have a much better idea of what player they have at their disposal.
