A machete incident, police stopping alleged broad daylight drug deals, fireworks thrown at emergency workers and a restaurant forced to close due to cordons. These are just some of the incidents featured on our website over the last two weeks in and around Nottingham city centre.

Of course, we have also had more positive headlines from our city centre too. Nottingham's Winter Wonderland is back in Old Market Square but just days before it opened, three people were arrested on suspicion of a number of drugs offences.

Nottinghamshire Live took an honest look at where we are as a city earlier this week in a series of articles. Our editor Natalie Fahy said: "We’re at a crucial point as a city. We have the new Green Heart park and Central Library which are a great start to turning things around, but I can’t help but notice the empty shops , the small gatherings of homeless people in corners and the masked youths on massive bikes as I walk around.

"Just last week we reported on a machete incident in broad daylight and fireworks being thrown at emergency workers and in the street. People told us they’re taking extra care walking around nowadays. That’s not pleasant to read and while we’re not saying we can solve it, we know it’s important to highlight the issues and bring it onto the agenda."
