Female police officer carried out sex attacks and told victim 'I know the law, you need to say yes,' court told

A female police officer is accused of carrying out two sex attacks on another woman - and allegedly told her: "I know the law, you need to say yes" , a court has heard.

Police Constable Fiona Anderson, 32, is accused of sexually assaulting the woman she met on dating site Tinder.

During the alleged sexual assault, PC Anderson reportedly told she woman she needed to agree because she "knew the law".

Prosecutor Mike Curry told Cardiff Magistrates' Court that she displayed controlling behaviour towards the woman.

Mr Curry said that the assault in 2018 involved the "touching of naked genitalia" and there was a "degree of intoxication."

Anderson was arrested and bailed last year over two alleged sexual assaults which took place in Cardiff between April and September in 2018.

PC Anderson, of Exeter, was not on duty with Devon and Cornwall Police at the time of the alleged offences. She has been suspended from duty by the force since her initial arrest.

Anderson, of Alford Crescent, Exeter, Devon, pleaded not guilty to the two sexual assault charges on the woman who cannot be identified.
District Judge Stephen Harmes said the case should go to the crown court. Anderson will next appear at Cardiff Crown Court in October 14th. She was remanded on conditional bail.

Devon and Cornwall Police said: "An officer is due to appear before Cardiff Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday.

"Police Constable Fiona Anderson, aged 32 and from Exeter, is charged with two counts of sexual assault.

"The charges relate to two incidents reported to have taken place in Cardiff in 2018; PC Anderson was not on duty at the time.

"PC Anderson was initially arrested and bailed in March 2023. She has remained suspended from duty since her initial arrest."
