Female trapped after crash in Somerset

Emergency services were called to a village in Somerset after a road traffic collision involving one vehicle left one passenger trapped in the car. The incident occurred just after 10pm yesterday (Friday, November 22) at Combe Florey.

The Devon & Somerset Fire Service responded to a call from the ambulance service where it was believed the vehicle’s occupants were trapped. An officer and two fire appliances were mobilised, to Williton Road in Combe Florey, northwest of Taunton, at 10.10pm.

Upon the fire service arriving, it was confirmed that police and ambulance were on scene. There were two occupants in the vehicle, one of which, a female, was trapped.

Fire crews stabilised the vehicle before working with paramedics to extricate the female using hydraulic cutting equipment. Both occupants were left in the care of the ambulance service whilst the fire Service and police made the vehicle and scene safe.

At 11.36pm, it was determined that the incident was brought under control and the fire service left. The incident was left with the police, who remained at the site.
