Fendi pays tribute to Karl Lagerfeld with emotional show at Milan Fashion Week

Karl Lagerfeld's final collection for Fendi has been shown at Milan Fashion Week.

The designer, who passed away on Tuesday, had been the creative director for the Italian fashion house since 1965 and so all eyes were on the autumn/winter 2019 show. As expected, it was filled with emotion as models who worked closely with Lagerfeld took to the catwalk.

Kaia Gerber, who was the last of Lagerfeld's muses to collaborate with him on his eponymous brand, walked in the show along with Adwoa Aboah, Bella Hadid and Gigi Hadid, who closed the show in a canary yellow dress that championed the iconic double F logo which Lagerfeld was repsonible for creating.

On the morning of the show, Fendi took to Twitter to announce that the AW19 show was going to be in tribute to the late designer.

“Immensely affected by his passing, Fendi wishes to celebrate Karl's unparalleled creativity and timeless legacy during today's Fall-Winter 19-20 fashion show," the statement read.

As attendees, including Olivia Palermo and Chiara Ferragni, entered the show space they found small cards on their seats: one with a Fendi sketch by Lagerfeld and another with the Fendi logo on the front and date the designer passed away on the back.

A tribute video also aired after the show, which showed Lagerfeld sketching what he had worn for his first day at Fendi.

It is thought that Lagerfeld worked on the AW19 collection up until his death with the help of Silvia Venturini, who shed a tear as she took an emotional final bow at the end of the poignant show.
