You know how it goes when you visit your old workplace – you like to play up slightly just because you can, while your former colleagues have to remain as professional as possible. Which is exactly what happened when Fern Britton made her return to This Morning after eight years today (April 13).
This time around, Fern was on the other side of the sofa as a guest, talking about her new TV series Culinary Genius and her recent travels to Jerusalem. But just before the chat with Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford wrapped up, talk turned to tattoos.
So, naturally, Fern jumped up to show the hosts her first tattoo, which appears to be in a rather intimate area indeed.
"Is that your first tattoo?" Ruth had asked when Fern showed her the cross on her wrist, prompting Fern's big revelation.
"Oh no, it's not her first," Ruth then added. "It's not her first tattoo at all! And she can't even show us the other one, Phil, can she?"
Phil being, of course, This Morning chef and Fern's husband Phil Vickery, who was left rather embarrassed by the whole situation.
"He wouldn't speak to me after I did it," Fern revealed. "He went, 'I thought I knew you!' It was like I'd had an affair!"
Well, that's certainly one way to make a comeback to the show.
Fern Britton previously hosted This Morning between 1999 and 2009, presenting alongside Phillip Schofield from 2002 when he joined the programme as a main co-host.
This Morning airs weekdays from 10.30am.
