Reality star Ferne McCann 'liked' an online post calling for the early release of her ex-boyfriend, jailed last year for a nightclub acid attack.

Arthur Collins, the father of Ms McCann's two-month old daughter, was sentenced to 20 years in prison on five counts of grievous bodily harm in December.

Ms McCann, a former cast member of ITV's The Only Way is Essex, reacted to an Instagram post uploaded by one of Collins' relatives.

The post read: "Free up my brother. I miss him the most." Ms McCann has previously vowed to never see Collins again.

It is understood she retracted the like but not before it was seen by others who followed the account.

One friend told The Sun she liked it by accident. They said: "This is nonsense - it was clearly an accident.

"She was scrolling down her feed and pressed a button by mistake...She was mortified and removed this immediately. There was no reason for her to like this post.

"He has been out of her life for over seven months and has made her feelings perfectly clear and is trying to move on with her life.

"It was an accident, nothing more."

Ms McCann said her newborn baby had kept her "focused" over the course of the last year.

She told This Morning hosts Philip Schofield and Holly Willoughby: "You know, I can’t lie, it has been a turbulent seven months for me but I had something to look forward to so that was my focus.

“I could always focus on the fact that I’m pregnant and I’m going to welcome Sunday into my life.”
