Will Ferrell is set to attend his first Leeds United match as a minority investor when Burnley visit Elland Road this weekend.

The appearance comes four months after joining fellow Hollywood actor Russell Crowe by investing in the club. He bought a stake in early May. There was even talk that he would attend the Championship play-off final against Southampton at Wembley Stadium that same month, but ultimately did not.

The 57-year-old has previously attended multiple Wrexham matches alongside their Hollywood owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney. The actor also watched Liverpool and Manchester City games in the Premier League last year.

Ferrell 's involvement in football has increased since being part of the 26-strong ownership group at the Major League Soccer franchise Los Angeles FC when they became a club in early 2016. He is a minority investor alongside, among others, Cardiff City owner Vincent Tan.

Eight-and-a-half years after that business move, Ferrell became the latest famous face to buy a small stake in the club's owners, 49ers Enterprises. That came ten months after the former co-owners completed their complete takeover of Leeds last summer.

Daniel Farke approved of the move, saying at the time : "We need each and every man; it’s always good! He's a great actor, and we are all happy he is on board."

Ferrell has an estimated net worth of £122million, according to Celebrity Net Worth, from his three-decade-long career, initially as a comedian and then as an actor. He starred in Elf , Anchorman and Step Brothers before more recently featuring in Barbie . Working as a producer on Succession saw Ferrell receive critical acclaim.

That net worth is notably over double that of another Championship celebrity investor, Burnley's JJ Watt. The former NFL player invested in the club last year with his wife, the former United States international footballer Kealia Watt.
