Fifth Harmony: The 7/27 Tour...Was It Worth It?

I would like to think that for someone of my age, that I have a fairly diverse taste in music. But, as I am only human, I will absolutely have a particular genre that I gravitate towards and probably always will, and for me, that is Pop music. One of my absolute artists at the moment is Fifth Harmony! They have several well-known songs like “Worth It,” “Work From Home,” and their newest single “All In My Head (Flex).” When I heard they were going on tour this year, I couldn’t contain myself and had to buy tickets they day they were available!

Now, I have been to a good number of concerts to realize what a good concert has. And thankfully, this concert had all the things that make a good concert: a good crowd, a killer set-list, fan-interaction, good production, energy, and of course…LIVE vocals!

The concert was held at Meadow Brook Amphitheater at Oakland University in Rochester Hills, MI on Saturday, August 13th. I attended the concert with my boyfriend, sister, and my sister’s best friend. Thankfully we had good seats! I wanted to see Fifth Harmony on their Reflection Tour but I was sadly working the day of the of the concert. So needless to say, when I learned that they were going on tour again, I immediately jumped at the chance.

The opening acts for Fifth Harmony were Victoria Monet, whom I’ve never heard of…sorry, but all the songs she sang I did enjoy. The closing opener was, in fact, Jojo! Being one of the older concert attendees, I loved Jojo when I was younger and she performed, in my opinion, her signature songs “Baby It’s You” and “Too Little Too Late” as well as some of her new material like the catchy tune “F*** Apologies.” Both openers were great at getting the crowd hyped up for the headliner…Fifth Harmony! The energy and buzz from the crowd and Fifth Harmony kept circulating throughout the entire event.

With a step up in production from the previous tour, the intro to Fifth Harmony’s set was lightyears better than before. The five-some with their girl-powered anthem “That’s My Girl,” and throughout the duration of the concert, they played more hits from their first studio album Reflection like “Sledgehammer,” “Boss,” “Worth It,” and also new songs from their sophomore album 7/27.

This is a picture of the girls in their first of two costumes. About halfway through the concert, there was one wardrobe change

Fifth Harmony performed 21 songs total, which makes for a pretty lengthy concert. The outfits were superb and are also a step up from the previous concert they headlined. Also, I will say that their voices were strong and it sounded like they had great control over their voices.

Some of the standout songs that were performed in conjunction with their sophomore albums were of course “Work From Home,” “All In My Head (Flex)”, “Write On Me,” “I Lied,” “Dope,” “Squeeze”, “Not That Kinda Girl,” and the tracks off of the Napster edition and the Japanese edition of 7/27, which includes “Voicemail,” and “Big Bad Wolf” respectively.

This is one of the pictures I took after their one costume change. I believe they were performing “All In My Head (Flex)” when this picture was taken.

People attend concerts so that they can experience their favorite artist’s music live and in person. I am so incredibly happy that I was able to see this group live! They have come a long way so far, and I hope they go further because I truly want to listen to more music by this group and see them reach the pinnacle of success that can be hard for groups to attain, but as history has shown, it has been done before and I hope it can be done again. I would definitely go and see Fifth Harmony again!
