Tourism in Coventry is outgrowing the West Midlands region as a whole after increasing by more than £100m in the last 12 months, according to a report. Marketing group Destination Coventry says that the industry in the city has grown for the third successive year.

Its value in 2023 was £855m with 11.39m people visiting Coventry, up by 3.1 per cent from 2022, the group added. Visits peaked in August.

According to Destination Coventry this means that the city is growing faster than the West Midlands Combined Authority area in terms of visitor numbers, economic impact and total employment. It is said a total of 7,911 jobs are now supported by the expanding visitor economy - up 17 per cent over the last four years.

Paul McMahon, managing director of Destination Coventry, said: "It has been another strong year for Coventry’s visitor economy which continues to hit new heights and lead the way in the West Midlands in terms of growth percentage. These latest figures reflect the second full year of Destination Coventry’s operations and highlight what can be achieved when businesses across the tourism sector are all working together.

"I’ve been in this role for a few months now and it is clear that the city’s tourism offer has incredible potential." The new stats have been published in an economic impact report on tourism in the city commissioned by Destination Coventry in partnership with West Midlands Growth Company. The report was formulated by Global Tourism Solutions.
