Filming for drama series set to take place in Ellesmere Port with lightning effects
Filming for a drama series is set to take place in Ellesmere Port. Residents in the area have been informed by production firm Kudos that filming will take place at the National Waterways Museum between October 3 and 8.
A letter, sent out to residents in the vicinity, warns of possible light pollution during filming through the night due to lightning effects. It also says the main car park to the museum on South Pier Road will be closed from October 2 to October 9.
The letter states: "Kudos Productions are working on a new eight-part drama series currently filming around Liverpool and Manchester. We are hoping to film some scenes at Ellesmere Port Boat Museum, on Thursday October 3 until Tuesday, October 8 2024.
"These scene require darkness and so our filming in planned to go into the evening, shooting up to 6am. The series is set in the 1800s and our plans are to dress some of these areas to suit the time period. Due to this, you will see members of our crew within the area making the location period appropriate before the filming date.
"We are pleased to bring more filming to Ellesmere Port and are working closely with Cheshire West and Chester Council and Film Office to minimize impact on residents and businesses.
"The scenes due to be filmed include lightning effects and special effects rain. The rain will be localised to within the Boat Museum itself. However, there may be some light pollution in the close vicinity to the boat museum.
"We will do all in our power to keep this to a minimum, although if this causes you concern, please feel free to get in touch. We are happy to offer mitigating measures such as black out material for your windows or alternative solutions."
The series being filmed has been kept under wraps, but the details may point to the Netflix series House of Guinness. The new series, announced in March this year with Kudos as the production company, has been filming in the North West this summer.
Manchester Evening News and Liverpool Echo have both reported that streets in the areas of the cities were transformed into 19th Century period for the filming of the drama throughout July.
House of Guinness will be the new series about the Guinness family and the aftermath of the death of the founder Benjamin Guinness. The biopic, which is being led by Peaky Blinder creator Stevie Knight, will follow Benjamin's four children, Arthur, Edward, Anne and Ben as the company grows.
It stars Anthony Boyle, seen in Tolkien, Louis Partridge, seen in Netflix drama Enola Holmes, and Emily Feirn, known for The Responder and Mary & George.
