Filming for new Guy Ritchie Amazon Prime series taking place across Bristol city centre
Filming for a new TV series is taking place in Bristol today (September 17). Filming for Young Sherlock, which will be on Amazon Prime, is taking place around the city centre, including at Queen Square and St Nicholas Market.
The eight-part series, which stars Hero Fiennes Tiffin in the leading role, had been reported to be filmed in Cardiff in July before moving on to Bristol. The series is being directed by Guy Ritchie who also worked on two Sherlock Holmes movies starring Robert Downey Jr. as Holmes.
The production had taken over Queen Square earlier this morning and a number of horses, carriages and several dozen extras were on the set. A scene featuring horses transporting period vehicles was shot before the production switched sites to St Nicholas Market.

Whilst there were no confirmed sightings of the main cast, the extras were all dressed in suits with some wearing bowler hats. The cobbled street and Victorian-era lamps formed part of the setting.
At St Nicholas Market, businesses operated as normal whilst the production was setting up. A period setting featuring traders and scattered hay was put into place directly in front of the Corn Exchange, which had been renamed The Queen’s Theatre .
This afternoon, filming began outside of the Corn Exchange where the crew took over the street. The section of street outside the historic building was closed off to the public.
Dónal Finn was spotted on set outside the Corn Exchange where a rain scene was filmed using sprinklers. Filming then moved onto Small Street.
Hero Fiennes Tiffin is best known for starring roles as a young Tom Riddle in the film Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince and as Hardin Scott in the After film series. Young Sherlock is based on the Young Sherlock Holmes novels created by Andy Lane.
The series also stars Oscar award-winner Colin Firth as Sir Bucephalus Hodge and the cast also includes Joseph Fiennes, Natascha McElhone and Zine Tseng. It is expected to launch on Amazon Prime sometime in 2025.
