Final day of trading announced for Gloucester car boot and market
Gloucester car boot and market is set to close as the licence to run it has come to an end. The manager of the site has said he is 'gutted' to break the news to those who visit the car boot and for those who use the site for trading.
Gloucester car boot and market organiser Reg Daldry had previously proposed a bold vision for the area which is located at David Hook Way just off the city’s Southern Bypass. In September Mr Daldry had proposed the site be could be transformed into a huge arena with space for 12,500 people at a concert and parking for 1,200 cars.
Despite hopes of the arena dream, no planning permission had been sought. However it is a further blow for Mr Daldry, as only a matter of weeks later, his beloved car boot is set to close, with the final car boot taking place today (November 17).

Taking to Facebook to share the news on November 16 on the Hempsted Village Noticeboard, Mr Daldry wrote: "Morning everyone I want to start by saying I’m absolutely gutted and I cannot bring myself to let you all know on video that Sunday (November) 17 will be are last car boot as my licence runs out on the 24th of this month."
