Final Preparations Underway for Biden Inauguration

Footage streamed live by the Joint Congressional Committee on Inaugural Ceremonies showed the quiet scene in Washington on Wednesday morning, January 20, hours before Joe Biden was due to be sworn in as the 46th President of the United States.

President Donald Trump departed the White House before the inaugural ceremonies, though Vice President Mike Pence confirmed he would be in attendance.

Around 200,000 flags were planted in the grass of the National Mall to represent the Americans unable to attend the inauguration because of the coronavirus pandemic. Credit: Joint Congressional Committee on Inaugural Ceremonies (JCCIC) via Storyful
