Finally, We Have Details About Kate Middleton's Annual Christmas Carol Service
In December, Kate Middleton will host her fourth annual Christmas Carol service at Westminster Abbey.
Kensington Palace announced today that the "Together at Christmas" service will take place on Friday, December 6th, and will once again be filmed for broadcast to air on ITV1 and ITVX on Christmas Eve.
"This year’s service provides a moment to reflect upon the importance of love and empathy, and how much we need each other, especially in the most difficult times of our lives. The service will shine a light on individuals from all over the UK who have shown love, kindness and empathy towards others in their communities," the Palace shared.
The palace noted that the Princess of Wales "wanted to celebrate the many people supporting those in need – individuals who have inspired, counselled, comforted, and above all else shown that love is the greatest gift we can receive. This theme takes inspiration from the Christmas story which encourages us to consider the experiences of others and the important human need of giving and receiving empathy."
In attendance at Westminster Abbey will be nearly 2,000 guests—members of the royal family, the Middleton family, and "people who have supported others in their communities, whether on a personal level with friends and family, through their work or as they selflessly give up their time through volunteering," according to Kensington Palace. The Palace also notes celebrities will be in attendance, "who in their own ways have shown how love can help others thrive."
Last year, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis all attended, along with King Charles, Queen Camilla, Kate's parents and siblings, and numerous other members of the royal family.
The 2024 service, like previous years, will combine "traditional and modern elements to encompass people of all faiths and none." This year's edition will feature performances by the Westminster Abbey choir, Paloma Faith, Olivia Dean, and Gregory Porter, and the decorations inside the Abbey will be inspired by nature.
We'll update this as we learn more about Kate's annual Christmas Carol service.
