Motorists have been warned that they face being slapped with a fine if they make a parking error. Police officers based in Halesowen issued the warning on social media site X.

They posted four pictures of badly parked cars each with the registration plate blanked out. All of the cars were seemingly parked partly on the pavement with one also appearing to be on double yellow lines.

The post was shared on social media just before 2pm on Wednesday, September 18. A statement read: "Halesowen NHT officers have discovered further bad examples of parking around the Belle Vale and Hayley Green area."

They added: "Fixed penalty notices on their way," along with the hashtag: "#parkitdontplonkit." Regarding parking on the pavement, a spokesperson for RAC previously said: "Outside of London, we advise people to use common sense when faced with no other option but to park on the pavement.

"If you are parking along a narrow road, where parking wholly on the road would stop other cars, and particularly emergency vehicles, from getting through, then it is a sensible option to park partially on a pavement, providing there are no parking restrictions and providing you are not blocking a wheelchair user or pram from using the pavement.

"If there are restrictions, or your parking would cause wheelchair users or people with prams to have to walk into the road, then you should find somewhere else to park."
