Finland extends Britain flights ban; to stop Ireland, S.Africa routes

(Reuters) - Finland will extend the ban on passenger flights on routes to Britain for a week until Jan. 18 due to the spread of a new variant of the coronavirus, and halt flights from Ireland and South Africa for Jan. 11 to Jan. 18, the Finnish government said on Friday.

The new variants of the virus have been detected in 20 people in Finland, Finnish health officials said earlier on Friday.
