Fire Authorities Restrict Access to Fraser Island as Blaze Burns Over 70,000 Hectares

Firefighting authorities restricted access to Queensland’s Fraser Island on November 27 as a bushfire going for more than a month reached over 70,000 hectares.

The Queensland Fire and Emergency Services (QFES) said it was not the time to visit the heritage-listed island.

“Visitors are not allowed to travel to the island and those already there should stay up-to-date with the latest information from QFES, including QFES Newsroom, and Queensland National Parks,” the QFES said on Facebook. Credit: Queensland Fire and Emergency Services via Storyful
