Fire Breaks Out at Residential Tower in South London

Fire crews were tackling a blaze in a flat on the 20th floor of a tower block on Westbridge Road in Battersea, London, on Tuesday evening, October 12, according to the London Fire Brigade (LFB).

Ten fire engines and around 70 firefighters responded to the fire, and a woman who escaped the flat before firefighters arrived was being assessed at the scene for smoke inhalation, the LFB said.

Footage taken by local residents shows flames leaping out from the flat. The visibility of the flames prompted at least 18 calls to 999, the London Fire Brigade said. The cause of the fire was unknown, they added. Credit: Sky Finili via Storyful
