Fire in Bronx Torches Vacant Buildings

A vacant building in the Bronx, New York, totally collapsed and two beside it partially collapsed after a fire broke out early on the morning of May 18.

Officials said the three-alarm fire was burning at the intersection of East 143rd Street and Willis Avenue, and warned those nearby to avoid smoke and to close their windows.

Local reports said the buildings were vacant.
