Fire-damaged pub up for sale two years after devastating blaze
A fire-destroyed pub is up for sale, two years after a devastating fire gutted the building. The Knowle Inn, Bath Road, Knowle fell victim to a devastating blaze that gutted the entire building in August 2022, marking an end to four centuries of trading.
Firefighters from nine stations battled the inferno at the Bath Road establishment. Stonegate Pub Company, the owners of The Knowle Inn, made the 'difficult' decision earlier this year not to reopen the premises - despite an initial hope that the pub could reopen.
The Knowle Inn, located near Bridgwater, is now on the market with a guide price of £250,000. Vickery Holman, a property management service based in Exeter, is handling the sale of the fire-damaged pub.

The listing describes a "rebuild pub opportunity" on a broadly rectangular plot of 0.42 acres, bordered by the A39 and suggests it is "suitable for demolition and reinstatement for existing use". The ground floor covers approximately 274 square meters, with trading areas surrounding a central bar.
The advert also suggests other potential uses for the site, including "either residential or commercial development."
Prior to the fire, the pub was described as: "A 16th century country pub situated just a few minutes from Junction 23 of the M5 motorway in Somerset. Extensive menu of dishes ranging from pub favourites to daily specials. The award winning beer garden is famous for floral displays in the summer. It also has a fish pond as well as a large covered smoking area."
