FIREFIGHTERS tackled a blaze at a caravan park in Chipping Norton, where a mobile home caught fire.

Crews from Chipping Norton and Hook Norton fire stations received reports of a fire at The Beeches on Tuesday at 6:30pm.

Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue Service said that even before even arriving at the scene, firefighters could see thick smoke and called an additional fire engine from Woodstock Fire Station.

The cause of the fire is currently unknown.

A spokesman from the fire service said: “On arrival, crews were faced with one mobile home fully involved in fire.

“Surrounding mobile homes were also starting to be affected by the significant heat.

“Working in difficult conditions of extreme heat and thick smoke the crews quickly established a water source and began to douse the fire while also wetting the surrounding homes to prevent fire spread.

“Unfortunately the mobile home where the fire started was lost to the blaze, but the quick actions of the crews did save the surrounding properties.”
