Fire North of Los Angeles Spreads to 870 Acres

A brush fire in the Santa Clarita Valley near Los Angeles rapidly spread to 870 acres on June 25, causing several areas to be evacuated.

The Placerita Fire was first reported as a half-acre brush fire that began at about 1 pm on Sunday. By 9 pm, the fire had spread to nearly 900 acres with 50 percent containment. According to the Los Angeles County Fire Department, one structure was destroyed in the fire. Mandatory evacuations were in effect for homes near Running Horse Road and Tender Foot Trail Road until 10 pm.
