Fire Tears Through Historic Pittsburgh Building

Firefighters responded to a four-alarm fire that broke out in a historic building in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, on February 8.

This footage, shot by local resident Karrin Rutledge, shows smoke billowing from the south side building, part of which collapsed as a result of the blaze, according to local media reports.

“This fire took 3 & 1/2 hours and about 75 firefighters to bring under control,” Pittsburgh Fire Fighters wrote on Twitter. “As of now there are no firefighter injuries reported. Fire crews will remain on scene until the building is demolished and the scene is safe.”

The building housed the South Side Chamber of Commerce offices, a barbershop and six apartments, local news said. Credit: Karrin Rutledge via Storyful
