Firefighter Captures Dramatic Footage of Windy Fire Burning in Sequoia National Forest

New evacuations were ordered in parts of Tulare County, California, on Thursday, September 23, as the growing Windy Fire reached 43,745 acres (about 68 square miles) and was 6 percent contained, according to fire officials.

This footage shows a staff member from the Orange County Fire Authority driving along a road in the Sequoia National Forest as flames engulfing brush on either side of road.

According to the Los Angeles Times, the Windy Fire has spread into the Long Meadow Grove in Porterville, endangering sequoias such as the Trail of 100 Giants, which includes trees that are around 1,500 years old. Credit: Orange County Fire Authority via Storyful
