Firefighters battle Haxby house fire as one person rushed to hospital
Firefighters are tackling a blaze in Haxby this morning (Monday, November, 18) after a semi-detached property went up in flames.
North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue are currently on the scene in Windmill Way after a fire broke out in the quiet residential street.
Emergency services were called at 7.51am to the town, a York outer suburb, after a fire broke out in the front room of the property. The fire quickly spread to the rest of the house and the neighbouring properties loft causing substantial damage to both.
Locals reported seeing smoke billowing from the roof of the detached bungalow this morning. The cause of the fire is not yet known but it is believed that all occupants are safe and well, although one person has been taken to hospital as a precaution.

North Yorkshire Weather Updates Facebook page has shared two pictures of the bungalow affected, one of the pictures shows the property engulfed in flames and the second shows the damage caused after the fire was extinguished.
The post reads: "House Fire In Haxby This Morning. Firefighters, are on the scene in Windmill Way in Haxby this morning. Smoke can be seen billowing from the roof of a semi-detached bungalow in the quiet residential area. All occupants are okay."
A spokesperson for North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "We were called at around 7.51am to reports of a fire to a front room of a bungalow which then spread to the loft and then to a neighbouring property’s loft.
"Crews extinguished the fire, removed roof tiles and dampened down hotspots. The fire caused 100% fire damage to the loft, 80% fire damage to the rest of the property and 100% smoke damage.
"The neighbouring property sustained 85% fire damage to the loft and 10% smoke damage. One person has been taken to hospital as a precaution. The cause of the fire is under investigation."
