Firefighters Battle to Save Home From Bushfire Near Tabulam

Bodycam footage released on Sunday, February 17, shows the efforts of New South Wales (NSW) fire crews to save a house from an encroaching bushfire near Tabulam on Saturday.

The video shows firefighters working into the night to control the fire, which they said was working its way towards Leslie Creek Road in Drake.

“Towards the end of the video, you can see #FRNSW & #NSWRFS firefighters working desperately to stop the fire from jumping the road. You may notice firefighters aiming their hoselines up towards the sky, instead of onto the fire,” Fire and Rescue NSW wrote on Facebook.

“This was to combat the ember attack that could’ve potentially started a bushfire on the opposite side of the road.”

They said they managed to control the fire and save the home.

On Monday, firefighters continued their efforts to stop the fire reaching Leslie Creek Road, according to a NSW RFS update. NSW RFS said fire danger was “very high” and 24 blazes, seven not contained, were burning across the state. Credit: Fire and Rescue NSW via Storyful
