Firefighters shut off part of a major road as they worked to clean up 300 litres of fuel after a coach overturned.

Emergency services were called to a coach on its side on the A130 near the Rayleigh Spur roundabout at around 6pm this evening.

The fire service has now confirmed no one was trapped inside and crews worked at the scene to clean up around 300 litres of diesel.

Traffic was building in the major road while the fire service worked at the scene.

They cleaned up the fuel by 6.45pm.

An Essex Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: “Firefighters were called to a crash on the A130 at Benfleet at 6pm.

“On arrival, three crews reported a coach was on its side. Nobody was trapped inside and crews worked to clean up approximately 300 litres of diesel by 6.45pm.”
