Firefighters Defend Inmate Camp From Creeping Woolsey Fire

Emergency responders sought to defend from the creeping flames of the Woolsey Fire on November 11 the LA County Fire Department’s Conservation Camp 13 in Malibu, California, where qualified prison inmates are housed to help fight fires.

As of November 14, the Woolsey Fire burned more than 97,000 acres of land in southern California and is 47 percent contained, according to officials. James Kaiser of SoCal EmergencyResponse recorded this footage of the Los Angeles County Fire Department’s Conservation Camp #13 burning as local firefighters try to keep away the flames.

The building seen in the video is the camp’s fitness center, according to the uploader. Firefighters were able to control the blaze, but significant damage was done to the facility. Credit: SoCal EmergencyResponse via Storyful
