Firefighters Injured Battling California Canyon Fire as Residents Return Home

Firefighting aircraft participated in the work to control the Canyon Fire in Alameda County, California, on June 23, as residents were evacuated and local media reported that two firefighters were injured.

Footage recorded by Anup Shah shows firefighting aircraft dropping flame retardant on a wooded area in Pleasanton on Thursday afternoon.

Residents in two areas of Alameda County, including Pleasanton, were allowed back to their homes late on Thursday, after evacuation orders were issued in the afternoon.

Local media reported that two firefighters were injured while battling the flames. Both were taken to hospital and “are expected to be OK”.
