Firefighters Injured in Wildfire Near Athens
At least 30 people, including three firefighters, were transported by ambulance due to injuries, after a wildfire broke out north of Athens, Greece, in the suburb of Penteli on July 19, the national fire service said.
Footage and images released by the agency on Wednesday show firefighters working to extinguish the flames.
The fire service said evacuations were carried out in an area comprised of 90,000 people.
Research Director at the National Observatory of Athens Kostas Lagouvardos told Athens News Agency that smoke from the fire was visible 400 kilometers (about 248 miles) away due to strong wind gusts.
