Firefighters Rescue Beehives From Queensland Bushfires

Firefighters saved a group of beehives from a fast-approaching bushfire in the Crows Nest area of Queensland on November 18.

Beekeeper Peter Wormington shared a video of the aftermath of the bushfire that shows the blackened land and trees surrounding the 17 hives. He told ABC Southern Queensland that the fire was about 10 meters from his apiary.

Wormington thanked the firefighters for their prompt response and for saving his bees just in time.

“It was a long, anxious wait, but thanks to our amazing firemen and -women, the hives fared well,” Wormington told Storyful. Credit: Peter Wormington via Storyful
