Firefighters Respond to Smoke Between DC Metro Stations

Washington Metro riders faced crowded trains and disruptions following a report of smoke between two downtown stations on Thursday, April 27.

No trains were running between Gallery Place and Dupont Circle on the Red Line while firefighters responded to the report. Service was restored for an hour before it was shut down again to allow for track repairs. Metro officials encouraged people to take other lines and provided shuttle buses.
