Firefighters sent to tackle utility room on fire in house

A house fire broke out in Kelbrook on Saturday morning.

Four fire engines from Nelson, Earby, and Colne were called to a fire on Colne Road at around 11.40am.

The utility room of the home was set alight and crews used four breathing apparatus, two hose reels, two thermal imaging cameras and a ventilation unit to extinguish the blaze.

Firefighters were at the property for more than three hours.

No injuries were reported.

A spokesperson for the fire service said: “Four fire engines from Nelson, Earby and Colne attended a fire on Colne Road, Kelbrook.

“The fire involved a utility room in a domestic property and was extinguished using four breathing apparatus, two hose reels, two thermal imaging cameras and one positive pressure ventilation unit.

“Crews remain in attendance.”
