Firefighting Aircraft Drops Flame Retardant on California's Oak Fire

The Oak Fire in Mariposa County, California, burned 18,824 acres and was 36 percent containment by Wednesday evening, July 27, Cal Fire said.

Footage shared by Oakland Fire Department on Wednesday shows a firefighting plane dumping flame retardant on the blaze on Monday, they said.

According to CalFire, the blaze, which was sparked on July 22, destroyed 100 structures and damaged 10 others as of Wednesday evening. The cause of the fire was under investigation. Credit: Oakland Fire Department via Storyful
